Help With CCJ's

A CCJ is issued by the Court on behalf of a creditor who is pursuing you for unpaid debts you owe them.

A CCJ (County Court Judgement) is issued by the Court on behalf of a creditor who is chasing unpaid debts. A creditor will usually resort to obtaining the CCJ after they have already tried to reclaim the debt via a debt collector.

Your CCJ will appear on your credit record which will hinder your chance at getting accepted for a loan, credit or a mortgage. If you do manage to get accepted, it is likely that you will have to pay a much higher interest rate. Even after you have paid the debt off, the CCJ will appear on your credit file for six years.

Getting a Loan with a CCJ

Although you may have a CCJ against you, it doesn't have to be an impossible dream to get accepted for a loan. If you are struggling with debt, you might want to look towards a debt management plan or an IVA.

Entering into an IVA may adversely affect your credit rating for up to six years from the date of approval.

Your property will be protected within an IVA but you may be required to release all or part of any equity during the period of the arrangement.

Failure to complete the term of an IVA can result in bankruptcy.

(In Scotland, a PTD is the equivalent to an IVA.)
